In 1971, a man calling himself D.B. Cooper hijacked Northwest Airlines 305 after it departed Portland, Oregon. He handed the stewardess a note saying that he had a bomb in his suitcase. He demanded four parachutes and $200,000 in $20 bills (about $1 million in today's dollars).
